Despite working remotely, I make an effort to keep moving all day. I enjoy taking several short 10-minute strolls, using this time to listen to podcasts that align with my current objectives. These moments not only keep me active but also inspire and motivate me to achieve my goals.

Hey John.

Great questions!

Some ways you can help maintain good health and achieve hard goals is to set up a plan and routine for yourself.

Having health and fitness goals you feel comfortable with is most important!

Having a plan on what goals you set for yourself either personally or professionally and ways you can get there in steps.

Having a checklist and staying organized to keep tracks of tasks you need to complete and seeing how much you have accomplished is important.

This is such a great question and something really important to me as well! Maintaining good health in a sustainable way (something that will last over time) is all about creating habits and routines that support your physical and mental health. Here are some things that help me:

I schedule time to exercise daily (though, 2-3 times a week is great!). I don't question whether I need to use this time to exercise - I don't give myself a choice, even when I am really tired and don't want to do it. Even fitting in a walk or short yoga session is great (and helps your mental health).

I also like to eat food that makes me feel good. I avoid processed foods like chips, frozen foods, or anything from a can! I prioritize time to prepare food ahead of time so that when I am in a crunch and really hungry, I have a good and healthy option.

Sleep is also so important! I go to bed at the same time each night and allow myself to get 8 hours of sleep each night. I avoid food before bed and don't drink alcohol, because both can affect your sleep.

Most importantly, find time for things that you love, like hanging out with friends, watching a show, reading a book, playing sports, etc. You need to focus on the things that bring you joy in your life!

Hi John,

Great question. I'm glad you're focusing on both your health and goals. I echo what many of the other responders said:

- Make sure to get enough sleep. Also try to go to sleep around the same time each night. That's hugely important for our health and mental abilities.
- Eat a balanced diet. This just means trying to get quality protein (meat, fish, nuts & nut butters, dairy) with every meal, drink plenty of water, and get a variety of veggies. If you can get multiple colors on your plate, that's an easy way to know you're consuming various nutrients.
- Learn how to manage your stress! This will require you to pay attention to your triggers/stressors and what seems to ease them. That might be exercise, adequate sleep, quality time with friends/family, speaking with a counselor, etc.
- Speak positively about your ability to accomplish your goals. Words matter. So do thoughts. Envision yourself accomplishing your goals.
- Be honest with yourself and track your progress. It's hard to know if you're on track with your goals if you're not checking in and recording progress.
- Find a mentor. This is an absolute game changer. Even if it's informal, find someone in your area of interest that you can look up to and learn from.

I love recommending habit stacking to my clients. Habit stacking just means choosing one habit you want to maintain or form, and pairing it with another. So for example, you may go for a walk or play basketball with a friend you've been meaning to catch up with. Or you might do laundry while listening to a podcast on stress management.

I hope this helps!

Get enough sleep, try to eat well, stay active and learn how to manage stress, always stay hydrated, plan and prioritize, don't forget to take breaks, stay organized, and connect with others. Bill’s Answer

Good for you to be aware of your health as part of your professional life.

For me that includes not only staying active but your diet & sleep habits as well. Eating right & getting enough sleep are critical to your overall health. I bring my lunch at least 3 days a week so I control that part of it (includes snacks that I can use over the course of the day).

Would suggest you make your activity/activities a routine or part of your schedule vs. something you try to squeeze in when you have time.

Good luck!
