I am a senior in high school and if I want to design and build cars for a living, what should I go major in when I get to college?

I don't want to major in something meaningless for what I want to be. #engineer #automobile-design #automotives

Hi,
I found this link for you...personally I do not know a lot about this field but it was interesting to read and learn:
http://www.thinkengineering.net/59/make-career-engineer-design/automotive-engineering/
Also, I see you are in Atlanta...there is a General Motors plant there...if you have never seen an auto plant, it is interesting and maybe they have tours that are open to the public. 3900 Motors Industrial Way Atlanta, GA 30360

Good luck!

Hi Kentrell B. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

As I write this response to you in the year 2021, I share that at this time, there is tremendous interest on the part of car manufacturers to build electric vehicles. Particularly here in the state of Georgia, there are many manufacturing companies that have opened battery plants as they are anticipating very rapid growth in electric vehicles.

My suggestion on what to major in given your question...electrical/mechanical engineering...with a side of physics :).

Hope you find this answer helpful and best of luck to you!
