How would me working with SYEP help me get into mechanical engineering?

My goal is to become a mechanical engineer before attempting to go in the military. To further advance in military.

Hi Bartholomew!

Great question! SYEP, like many of other Youth employment programs, will give you real world work and experience that can teach you many skills and get you experience in a work environment. While your assignment might not be related to mechanical engineering, it can still teach valuable skills including team work and interpersonal skills, and other "soft" skills that future employers will care about. It can also give you an experience that can potentially be used for college essays.

Good luck with your career ambitions!

your gonna want to look into college and ROTC if you want to be a mechanical engineer in the military (or even if you want to benefit in the military by being knowledgeable with mechanical engineering). most of the time enlisted specialties are not guaranteed, and they put you where they need you. you can end up being infantry, a cop, or an office worker after basic training. so your goal should be to get a commission and be an officer. maybe you already know this, but im just sayin, for others that read this.
