Dear Bernard,

LET'S GET STARTED ...

Action Plan to Beat Procrastination:

1. Identify the Root Cause: The first step in overcoming procrastination is to uncover the root cause. This could be anything from fear of failure, lack of motivation, perfectionism, or feeling overwhelmed.

2. Define Clear Goals and Prioritize Tasks: Make sure to set clear, achievable goals. This will help you break down tasks into manageable steps. Prioritize these tasks based on their importance and deadlines to stay focused and organized.

3. Develop a Structured Schedule: Creating a structured schedule or to-do list will help you allocate time for each task. By setting specific time blocks for work and breaks, you can increase productivity and reduce procrastination.

4. Apply Time Management Techniques: Use time management techniques like the Pomodoro Technique (working in intervals with short breaks), time blocking, or productivity apps to manage your time effectively and fight procrastination.

5. Minimize Distractions: Identify and reduce distractions in your environment. This could mean turning off notifications, creating a dedicated workspace, or using website blockers to limit access to distracting sites.

6. Cultivate Self-Discipline and Accountability: Develop self-discipline by setting deadlines, rewarding progress, or finding an accountability partner. This can help you stay focused and avoid procrastination.

7. Break Down Tasks into Smaller Steps: Make tasks less daunting by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable steps. This strategy can help you overcome the inertia often linked with procrastination.

8. Maintain a Positive Mindset: Keep a positive attitude towards tasks and see challenges as opportunities for growth. This can increase motivation and decrease the chances of procrastination.

9. Seek Support or Professional Help if Needed: If procrastination is significantly affecting your daily life or mental health, consider seeking support from a counselor, therapist, or psychologist. They can provide strategies to tackle the underlying issues causing procrastination.

By implementing these steps into your daily routine, you can steadily beat procrastination and boost your productivity.

Hi Bernard,

Overcoming procrastination is a common challenge, but there are steps you can take to tackle it effectively:

1. Set Clear Goals: Define specific, achievable goals to give yourself direction and motivation.

2. Break Tasks Down: Divide larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps to make them less overwhelming and easier to tackle.

3. Create a Schedule: Use a planner or calendar to schedule specific times for working on tasks, setting deadlines to hold yourself accountable.

4. Prioritize Tasks: Identify the most important tasks and prioritize them accordingly, focusing on completing high-priority items first.

5. Eliminate Distractions: Minimize distractions by turning off notifications, finding a quiet workspace, or using productivity tools to stay focused.

6. Use Time Management Techniques: Try techniques like the Pomodoro Technique (working for set periods followed by short breaks) to maintain focus and productivity.

7. Reward Yourself: Establish rewards for completing tasks or reaching milestones to reinforce positive behaviors and motivate yourself to stay on track.

8. Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself and recognize that setbacks happen. Instead of dwelling on past procrastination, focus on moving forward and making progress.

9. Seek Accountability: Share your goals with a friend, family member, or colleague who can provide support and hold you accountable for staying on track.

10. Reflect and Adjust: Regularly review your progress and identify any patterns or obstacles that contribute to procrastination. Adjust your strategies as needed to find what works best for you.

By implementing these steps consistently and developing healthy habits, you can overcome procrastination and become more productive in your work and personal life.

I hope it helps! Good luck!

Jerome’s Answer

I used to be a big procrastinator. It wasn't until I thought about what I wanted my life to be and what it would take to get there that I found ways to be more organized. There is a version of you that exists today that is a result of the work you did (or didn't do). You get to make a choice today that will impact how your life will be 6 months from now.

It helped for me to find study groups and to block things off. Rewards yourself. If I do an hour of work, I play an hour of video games.

Having an accountability partner or mentor can also make a huge difference.

1. **Pray and meditate. Know who you are.** I challenge everyone, students and non-students alike, to take a 6-month challenge: spend 10 minutes daily on prayer, meditation, and journaling. Results are nearly 100% guaranteed for genuine participants.
2. **Identify the issue**: Reflect on your past and determine if you're struggling with self-esteem, limited resources, lack of direction, or recovering from abuse.
3. **Accept where you are and start from there**: Acknowledge your current situation and use it as a starting point for personal growth.
4. **Don't put too much pressure on yourself**: Avoid feeling overwhelmed and beating yourself up. It's important not to let self-doubt consume you.
5. **Set realistic goals**: Begin with small, achievable objectives. It's okay to start slow and gradually find your niche.
6. **Rest and love yourself**: Focus on your accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. Celebrate your progress and take time for self-care.
7. **Be dedicated**: Embrace consistent practice, as dedication and persistence will lead to mastery. Become a master.

Nicole’s Answer

Not procrastinating, I feel is a mindset you have to teach yourself. My recommendation is to make TO DO list's of thing's you want to accomplish every day. Next make the time to accomplish those tasks. I feel it's easy to procrastinate when there are several distractions going on around you. It's best to set the phone/tablet aside to focus on your tasks you want to accomplish. Within time you will realize that you feel good once those tasks are done and slowly you will procrastinate less. I usually try to make myself a list for the week and break down day by day so it feels less overwhelming.
