Kim’s Answer

Brady,

To be a successful police officer, on top of the more common skills talked about, you also need these:

Ability to stay calm under pressure (imagine being taunted while working riot control).
Ability to "compartmentalize." Not spend time thinking about work and the calls you handled once you are through handling them.
Self Confidence. Lots of it.
Ability to work strange hours, long hours, sleep irregular hours, and still manage your personal life, be it a family or time with friends.
Ability to be true to yourself, and not succumb to peer pressure.
Good writing skills - once you arrest someone, your report needs to tell the story of what happened in a truthful, chronological sequence, including all relevant facts.
Ability to let stuff roll - not hold grudges. You need to get along with your peers - you depend on each other in times of danger.

Let me know if you have follow up questions or want true life examples. glad to help with your paper!
