Sports management is about much more than “show me the money!”

While talent recruiters and agents are vital figures in the industry, the field is populated with players harnessing unique skills, who use them in various ways to support the industry’s success. Talent scouts and managers are the exciting public face of sports management.

Behind the scenes, facilities managers, public relations executives, broadcasters, nutritionists and trainers are just a few of the sports industry’s movers and shakers.

Scott’s Answer

Hi Austin-

There are multiple routes and opportunities to explore in the sports marketing/management/sponsorship arena. Below is just as small sample to think about!
- sales with teams or sports properties that own rights to certain arenas or events (this could include partnership sales, seat/suite sales, etc.)
- partnership management/negotiation both with a sports agency or brand
- brand management with a company such as nike, adidas, etc. or with a team/property
- PR functions within brands, agencies, teams, etc.
- social media
- athlete management, talent negotiation

Just some avenues to think about
