Hello Ryan,

Creating a Resume for a Manufacturing Job with CNC Certification

When applying for a job at a manufacturing company with your CNC certification, it’s essential to tailor your resume to highlight your relevant skills and experience. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you create an effective resume:

1. Contact Information:

Include your full name, address (Denver, Colorado in this case), phone number, and email address at the top of your resume.

2. Professional Summary/Objective:

Write a brief summary or objective statement that highlights your experience, skills, and career goals related to the manufacturing industry and CNC operation.

3. Skills Section:

Create a section dedicated to listing your relevant skills, including CNC programming, machine operation, precision measurement, quality control, etc.

4. Work Experience:

Detail your work history in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent job.
Focus on roles where you utilized CNC skills or worked in a manufacturing environment.
Use bullet points to describe your responsibilities and achievements in each position.

5. Education:

Mention your CNC certification prominently under the education section.
Include any relevant coursework or training related to manufacturing or CNC technology.

6. Certifications/Licenses:

Highlight your CNC certification here along with any other relevant certifications or licenses.

7. Projects/Portfolio (Optional):

If applicable, include a section showcasing specific projects you have worked on that demonstrate your CNC skills and expertise.

8. Additional Tips:

Use action verbs and quantifiable achievements to make your resume more impactful.
Tailor your resume for each job application by emphasizing the skills and experiences most relevant to the specific role.
Proofread carefully to ensure there are no typos or grammatical errors.

By following these steps and customizing your resume to showcase your CNC certification and relevant experience in manufacturing, you can increase your chances of landing an interview at a manufacturing company.

Hello, Ryan !

Wow, I am super impressed on your accomplishment of obtaining your Computer Numerical Control Certification ! That's great ! I also want to wish you all the best at your interview. Although I cannot write your resume, there are some suggestions I have of people you can go to that might write your resume for you. It would require an appointment and sitting with the person for a while as they ask you questions about your work history, education including the certification, any volunteer work you may have had. Also included on a resume are internships, skills and contact information.

I am not sure if you are in college or high school, but if it is high school, the school Social Worker perhaps may assist you and write a resume for you. One of the teacher's aides may also, but you have to ask. If you are in college, ask your Academic Counselor, staff at the Student Services Center or the Career Center on your campus. Hopefully one of those will work out.

How about tapping into some of the free services in your city like Employment Services from Colorado Department of Human Services. There's also the Colorado Workforce Center, the Department of Labor, Jewish Family Services and I would suggest checking with your public Library to see if anyone there knows of more employment services where there'd be someone who could write your resume for free. Keep in mind that resume writing is actually a professional career and many times the service costs. I think that you could probably be able to have it done from a free service or do it on your own with assistance from resources I have left below.

There is always the option of writing it yourself and that may just be the quickest way to accomplish it. I've provided some links below so you can follow the format and get an idea of what information is needed on a resume. Whether you do it on your own or go to one of the programs to assist you, have a list ready before you begin. List all the work you have done, the start date and end date, name of the company, your position ,the city/town and state. There is a certain way to do resumes which I cannot go into it due to the length of the information, but see what you come up with. Bring the list to the person who writes your resume or use it for a guide for doing it on your own. A look at the sample resumes at the links I left below will give you an idea of how it's done.

I hope that this is helpful for a start and best wishes on the interview !
