Rita’s Answer

If you want an easy way out, this is not it. The medical field is hard and long. If you don't want to study, this is not for you. You need to also be good with people.

I think nursing is one of the hardest fields because you often get yelled at by everyone: patient, patient's family and the doctor.

I think you need to ask yourself what do you enjoy. You should pick a field that even if they never paid you, you would do. You need to do something that you are passionate about.

Anna’s Answer

Hey Jacob,

I would say you should take some time to reflect prior to going into a nursing program to begin with. Nursing is a very difficult field to go into as you deal with manny types of patients who are in vulnerable states as well as the schooling for nursing is very advanced and rigorous. You want to make sure the path you are choosing is something you have a passion for and you love so that when you are in that job, it is rewarding and fulfilling.

I would suggest seeing what interests you the most beyond the money aspect!

Kathleen’s Answer

Nursing requires a good deal of schooling and commitment well beyond making money. Helping people is a noble ambition, but if money is the primary goal, it's likely you won't be satisfied anywhere. Assess your talents and abilities and desires ( other than money) and see what paths could lead you to a fulfilling career. Get rich quick schemes are not the answer. There are many opportunities to help people in a variety of fields. Good luck!

Mike’s Answer

Begin your journey in the nursing program and find your niche in a department that brings you joy. You might discover a passion for phlebotomy, drawing blood, or perhaps you'll enjoy checking in on patients. Remember, starting somewhere doesn't mean starting at the bottom. Every role that contributes to helping others is significant and valuable. So, focus on discovering what you love to do. The financial rewards will follow naturally. Don't stress about money at this stage, concentrate on finding happiness in your work, and I assure you, the money will come. The nursing program is an excellent choice, widely offered in many colleges, and it's relatively affordable. Plus, it could lead to internships or other opportunities.

Mike recommends the following next steps:

Nursing program to start
Then maybe find a department you like to work in

Hailey’s Answer

Nursing can be a lucrative field, however it requires a lot of work to get to that point. It does take quite a bit of schooling. I would not recommend pursuing nursing solely for the money. Those nurses are not generally good nurses and it is evident in their demeanor and bedside manner. Nursing requires some empathy and understanding. It can be the hardest work you’ll ever enjoy. You have to able to withstand angry patients, families, physicians and other nurses and keep coming back. Good luck!
