There are numerous Army bases worldwide, but this doesn't guarantee you'll be stationed overseas. Your Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) and the Army's needs are key factors. For instance, a Signal MOS might offer more foreign assignments than a Field Artillery MOS. If the Army needs your MOS where you wish to be stationed, you're likely to get your preferred assignment.
Reflecting on my overseas experience, I spent three enjoyable years in Germany two decades ago. I was fortunate to meet travel-loving Army friends and learned to be comfortable traveling alone. Living outside of the U.S. can be challenging but also great experience. Depending on where you are stationed basic necessities may not be available. Almost every established military base will have stores with American food and necessities. The travel is amazing, most of the time it locates you a lot closer to popular travel destinations and makes travel so much easier and cheaper.
