Hello, Pearl !

It's so wonderful that you have chosen such a creative and enjoyable career and I would love to share some advice for you.

You do not need to volunteer as an artist, you can create your own work which would lead to a marvelous presentation portfolio. There are resources for art on the internet, however, but it would be for basically courses, information and places to network and meet other artists, not volunteering actually creating art. You could always volunteer in an administrative capacity at a gallery or museum, but I get the idea that you want to do hands on art with different media so let's see how you can start.

Before you have gained experience, you will need some path of education. Consider being an Art Major in college. That is my first recommendation as the degree will open doors for you and you will learn a great deal about techniques, application and gain contacts in the art world. Not only that, you will also be assigned some great projects that will advance your artistic skills and provide you with a product base. You have to start somewhere and there's good structure in the college setting for artists.

While you are doing student projects, you can also attend group shows, participation events, workshops and camps for artists. This would broaden your awareness of the field and bring you into contact with professionals and possibly opportunities. I have left a link to these activities for you below.

You can consider taking some online animation and illustration courses online, too. I have three links for them below. So, for now, concentrate on hands on artwork and education and also networking within the artist community near you. Just start creating ! Remember that college and yourself are two main ways to gain experience as an artist.

I hope that this is helpful and I wish you all the best with beginning your journey for your career !

I would look up events for artist in your local area. For example, type in the google search for " Art event in city you live in...". Usually, there are festival that will be featuring local artist in the surrounding area. This is allowed you to network your skill wilt other individuals who interested in what you're doing. Good Luck!
