Bill’s Answer

Hi Jonathan,

I'd suggest contacting/checking out the websites of all the major banking and financial institutions in NYC, as well as tech companies such as Google that have offices located in your area. Investment firms on Wall St. likely have internship and mentoring opportunities
as well. Good luck!

Brad’s Answer

I'd check out CodeAcademy or take a class at General Assembly prior to starting your freshmen year. These experiences will be more practical to your likely future job or starting your own company than your CS degree from university.

MIT offers some free online introductory courses, so you may want to take a look at those before you begin your studies. There are also many companies that are looking for interns (you might find some on Indeed.com) or work with your colleges guidance office as they may have contacts in the business community.
