Ensure your essays are compelling and unique to distinguish you from other candidates. Make it a point to apply to a minimum of three institutions: a safety school, your dream school, and an ambitious choice. There's a wealth of knowledge available in books on college admissions at your local library that can help you understand the admissions process better. Your school may also provide guidance counselors who can offer personalized advice on the application process and help you determine the most suitable schools to apply to. Remember to apply for financial aid through FASFA. Don't let the cost of a university deter you. You might also qualify for scholarships and grants.

Angel,
Good grades and GPA are a great start to being accepted into college. In addition to grades, I suggest looking into extracurricular activities and volunteer work. These are great opportunities that allow you to show colleges that you are involved in your community and that there is more to you as an individual than your grades. Make sure to also talk and become familiar with your teachers in high school. You will most likely need to ask for a reference letter from a few different teachers, so it is important to engage with them directly so that they know who you are and what kind of student you strive to be. This can help them to be more willing to write you a strong letter of recommendation.

Hi Angel! Good grades and a high GPA are a great start to getting into college. Some additional recommendations I have are:
1) Explore extracurricular activities that interest you. This includes clubs at school or activities outside of school as well! Exploring leadership opportunities in activities that you like could also help with personal development. That being said, I want to add that sometimes people sign up for a bunch of clubs that they aren't interested in to add to their college apps; I wouldn't recommend doing this as it often led to stress/pressure for the students. I'd definitely recommend picking things that you genuinely enjoy doing and going deeper into those activities!
2) Build connections with teachers. Most colleges require letters of recommendation from teachers.
3) Apply for summer programs for things that you might be interested in. Some universities, for example, have programs for high school students to work on cool projects or explore different subjects. Colleges also sometimes have research programs for high school students as well. These programs can be helpful in deciding what you may want to study in college. The programs are also an opportunity to explore campus life and decide what type of campus or location you might be interested in going to for college. I'd recommend exploring something that you really enjoy or have curiosity about!
4) Get to know your guidance counselor. Guidance counselors can provide more information about the admissions process and can also give feedback on personal statements/essays which are important in the application process.
5) Double check if any universities require standardized tests. Testing requirements have changed a lot over the past years, so I'd recommend checking the website of schools you are interested in to see what the requirements are.
And finally, I wanted to say to make sure to have fun in high school as well! Best of luck :)
