How can I find on-the-job training for forensic science?
I’m interested in working in the forensic science field, specifically as a crime scene investigator or a forensic biologist. I’m going to college in a small town with an average crime rate.

Hi! Does your college offer any forensic courses? My university only had one class on computer forensics but it was still incredibly informative and interesting. Or you could possibly find a forensic course (or certificate program) that is about forensics too.
Outside of academics, what I would start with/recommend first is that you do some ride-alongs with your local police or sheriffs office, if they have a program like that. Not only would you gain more knowledge of the day to day tasks of an on-duty cop, you could use that chance to start networking near the field you are 'actually' interested in. Perhaps they know of a crime scene investigator and they could facilitate a warm introduction for you.
Also think about the other professions you may be interested in that are similar too. For example, DNA analyst, Evidence Tech, Forensic Pathologist, etc.
Good luck on your journey!
