Hello Jennifer,
Let's talk about how to figure out if you're on the right career journey! Start by taking a good look at what you're passionate about and what matters most to you. Does your current career path make you feel excited and line up with your deepest values? Are you learning skills that are important for your goals, and do you have fun using these skills?
An important part of this process is checking out what's happening in the job market. The Bureau of Labor Statistics website (https://www.bls.gov/) is a great place to find this kind of info. They have a section called the Occupational Outlook Handbook (https://www.bls.gov/ooh/) where you can look up the career you're interested in. It gives you facts about job growth, how much people typically earn, and what kind of education you need. This can help you figure out if your chosen career has a bright future.
Why not try getting some real-world experience by doing internships or part-time work in the field you're interested in? This can give you a sneak peek into what the job is really like day-to-day. Also, meeting and talking to people who already work in the career you want can give you a real-life view of the job and help you make connections for future jobs.
Don't forget, it's completely normal for your interests and goals to change over time. Be open to new ideas and ready to change your career path if you need to. Focus on learning skills that can be used in many jobs and on being a good communicator. These things can help you get better jobs no matter what career you choose. Regularly taking time to think about your career and reassess your path is the key to making sure you're on a journey that will make you happy and successful in the long run.
I hope this helps.

Hi Jennifer!
This is a fantastic question, I think we all have it!!
Remember, there are two questions here:
I'm in high school and I want to know what my career will be from when I am 18 and graduate till I am 68 and retire? - this is a tough question.
Question two is, what is a great career path for me, Jennifer? - that is a much easier question to answer.
In life there are a few career paths, and they all have benefits, some might be doing what you love and some might be doing what makes you the most money for your time invested. At your age your are choosing between both, how do you start a career in a field you love so that you can expand from your initial position to a long term leadership role that is rewarding????
In terms of paths, think:
Science / Research
Information Technology / Communications
Medicine
Law
Education
Healthcare
Municipal / Gov
Agriculture / Farming
Manufacturing / Production
Construction
There are other "fields" too, such as shipping, or joining the military. In your situation, you want to start a career in a field that you are interested in and that will reward you well. I am a big believer in volunteer work, I personally have dedicated whole years to being a volunteer; but in this situation you are talking about a paid career which might be different than a pure passion such as helping others (after all, you will have your own and your children's own bills to pay one day).
So then what else matters for your path to be on the same track as your career goal?
Performance is the next and always most important metric. Are you good at what you want to do? I personally am not qualified to play in the NBA no matter how much I want to do it. So what are you good at? Do you talk a lot with friend and do you enjoy meeting with strangers? How about working in sales in any of the above fields? Do you like mentoring people - how about a career in education? Are you adjudicating amongst your siblings and friends - how about a career in law or politics?
You know your skills, once you determine the career path that is right for you it is time to search for top paying opportunities in (x career path) so that you position yourself properly for the future.

Finding out what your purpose as far as contribution to society is one thing, but what excites your every waking moment from now to eternity well that is success. How do you know you are on the right path, because you quit looking and become obsessed with honing and refining every aspect of your skills. Sometimes this happens quickly and you are fourchette if you find your gift early in life, but not always. Maybe what your really good at hadn't been discovered yet and not until your are older. So my advice is to stay present in your life and become a sponge and look at the world around you, I mean really look how everything fits together in this B ig beautiful puzzle we interact with and it energy and find your place where you can have a happy life spent
