Hello Esther, deciding on a career path is a significant milestone in life, and understandably, it may not be an easy task. However, I encourage you to explore fields that truly captivate your interest during your high school years. This could be anything from business, education, nursing, or even the medical field. If something sparks your curiosity, don't hesitate to reach out to a school counselor. They can provide you with additional opportunities that could further enhance your growth in that particular area. When it comes to selecting colleges and universities, ensure they offer robust career programs that align with your chosen field of study. This will help you avoid any potential obstacles and ensure you're fully prepared to meet the necessary requirements. Remember, your dedication and commitment will be key in this journey. Wishing you all the very best!

Hello, Esther !
It is so wonderful that you are starting to wonder and think about a future career. Of the many ways people discover their calling, it happens at different times for everyone. There is no deadline for knowing, no rush for it and you will eventually unfold the special career choice that will be right for you.
What I learned in the past was that the more life experience one has helps with learning what stands out for you. Being around a variety of people, doing a variety of activities and taking various subjects in school really helps establish your interests. It is definitely the road to self-discovery.
One way to see what you like is to make a list of all the things you enjoy and begin finding out more about them . Read books and websites on the subjects because there is a lot of information out there about every possible career. This is something that you can do on your own, for free, with little effort. One website you may read is O* Net Online (link is below). Take advantage of the internet which has a world of information regarding possible careers and is a major tool for college and career aspirations.
Think about random shadowing. This will be a great way to discover what people do while they are at work and various duties involved in their workday. Choose some people that you know that have positions that allow them to have guests at work. This would have to be arranged in advance because some places of work are not suitable for shadowing, such as medical facilities or other places that demand strict focus and confidentiality from their staff.
That being said, doing volunteer work would be another way to discover what you may like. I would suggest trying Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin County, You can also try the website Volunteer Match to search for local volunteer experiences. I have left the link to their website for you below. Also try volunteering at some social services agencies. It's just a matter of asking and this works best if you go in person so you can obtain the information in real time, face to face. Visit your local Town/City Hall and Chamber of Commerce for more information about possible places to volunteer. Enjoy the experience of volunteering and don't worry about picking out something yet, take it a step at a time.
There are quizzes that you can take that assist in figuring out where your interests may be and what type of work is suited for you. I have left some links for these below and I advise doing some because they can be fun and shed some insight for you. I do hope you enjoy doing them.
Many people discover what they want to do at a young age due to influence and inspiration, but it's perfectly fine if it doesn't happen for everyone at the same time. Know that you have a lot of options, many choices of hobbies and activities that you can explore at any time, at any age. Even after one career, you may discover going into a different type of work, so it's not so much trying to choose at any given time, it's more like living life and seeing what develops. You will find that special niche in which you feel totally a part of. It will happen.
I hope that this is helpful to start you in your discoveries and I wish you all the best in all you do !
