Hello, Nana Adjoa !

It is wonderful that you have an interest in the Arts and if you are already studying for this in Senior High School, it is very much possible to continue your studies for this career at University. I will provide some information for you that I hope will be helpful for this exciting and creative career.

In order to discover which colleges offer an Associates Degree for the arts, one would explore the various colleges in the list at the link below. There really is no information online about degrees offered unless you read each college website, visit or call the college to receive the information. I would advise contacting the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, which is not a college or school, rather an organization that can tell you of potential educational opportunities for art. You can consult with them before exploring the list of colleges. I have left the link to their website for you below.

Another option that you may have is to obtain an Associates Degree for art remotely. I have left one link for you below of some websites for this, but there are probably many more that exist and you can find them by doing an online search. It will take some reading and note taking for you to obtain the answers to your question and when you have all the information, you can make a choice between attending college in person or studying with an online, remote school. When you obtain your Associates Degree for art, you can look for remote work in that field by going to the website Crossover at the link I have left for you below. There are many more employment websites that you can discover by searching online.

If you are already studying art in senior high school, remember to preserve your work in a portfolio, both a hard copy and an online web portfolio. I have left a website link for you below for more information about creating a portfolio. Also consider starting a resume or CV. Research the type of materials you will need for applying to jobs and start it now by reading about it online or asking your current instructors at your current school. Since art encompasses a wide range of careers, you will want to find out what you will need for your specific type of art. It's never too early to prepare for this.

So, yes, it is very possible to continue your art studies beyond senior high school and obtain an Associates Degree specializing in whichever type of art you intend to pursue. Thanks for reaching out about this and I wish you all good things !

Hey there Nana,

Absolutely, going to an arts high school doesn't mean you're stuck with arts for life. While school can give you a solid base in artsy subjects, it doesn't tie you down to only arts-related careers or further studies. In fact, many students from arts high schools branch out into all sorts of fields in college, like science, tech, engineering, business, social science, humanities, and so much more.

When it comes to college applications, the admissions folks look at a whole bunch of stuff, not just where you went to high school. They're interested in your grades, your hobbies, the nice things people say about you in recommendation letters, and how well you did on standardized tests. So, your high school days are just one piece of the puzzle. What's really important is showing off your passions, talents, and what you've achieved in different areas, no matter what your high school was all about.

If you're thinking about an arts high school but also have your eye on a different field for college, it's a smart move to get involved in stuff outside of your arts classes that match up with your other interests. Join clubs, do some volunteer work, find internships, or start your own projects that connect to what you want to study in college. By showing off your wide range of interests and skills, you can prove to colleges that you're a well-rounded, driven student, no matter what your high school focused on.

Best of luck on your journey!
