Drayden, thank you for focusing on a particular area. That helps you determine if you might like that type of job and if so, you can pursue it directly. With this type of job, you wear many hats - you work closely with people, but you also work by yourself at times. You monitor surveillance cameras, walk buildings and grounds, put together emergency response plans. You document observations and determine if there are a preventative measures that need to be taken, like adding extra security for an on-site event. You might come up with a traffic flow/plan, access control for people going onto the property. You would be in charge of working with IT to ensure all the cameras and alarms are tested and operable. It is an interesting job that can afford you the opportunity to learn a lot, to meet a lot of people and to grow with a client or organization. Good luck with your career!

Security can be a very interesting and most certainly is a valuable career and there could be many, many venues at which to work. It is also a good background and stepping stone to have if you'd want to go into a career as a police officer or detective.
Your first two questions have no collective answer. Just like all careers, there are people who love, like or dislike the work they do, so it's not an easy thing to generalize about. Hopefully some people who are security guards can give you their personal and individual opinion about how satisfactory they think their work is. Also, just because you obtain accounts of people's personal experiences it doesn't mean that your career will be the same. There are just too many factors that play into liking or not liking a job. The only way to find out is to read more about it and watch videos about the career and then just go for training and certification and obtain employment for it. Do a search on You Tube about what it is like being a security guard.
No one can say if the work environment is good because there are too many different places you could work as a security guard. You could work anywhere from a hectic, busy Emergency Room at a hospital or a nice, quiet Library and anything in between. You can probably make a list of the types of places you wouldn't want to work at and a list of places that you would like to work at and that can be a guide for you. However, if you work through an agency, you may be sent anywhere to work security.
I may be wrong about this, but the only possible career advancement if you are a direct hire at a company may be being promoted to manager or supervisor of the department. Other than that, you would have gained enough experience to change careers to perhaps become a police officer or corrections officer. Another advancement could come if one day you start your own Security Agency.
