Hello Di,
It's fantastic to hear about your eagerness to volunteer! There's a whole world of opportunities out there, and I've found a few that seemed interesting to me.
Take a look at these:
https://www.projectecho.org/volunteer
https://loveforourelders.org/letters
https://www.pgdp.net/c/
To make your search more fruitful, I recommend pinpointing some general areas that capture your interest. This could be anything from reading, teaching, tutoring, helping the elderly, or contributing in the fields of science or healthcare. Once you've discovered your areas of interest, consider reaching out to non-profit organizations that operate in those sectors and offer your services. I would like to add that do not pursue volunteering just for the sake of a college application - your sincerity and authenticity is very important so try to find something that you are genuinely interested in.
Here's to your journey of making a difference! Best wishes.

We live in an exciting time where more non-profits offer the option to support them virtually than ever before. I’d encourage you to do a search for non-profits in your city and reach out to a couple.
That way you are still improving the world around you and getting what you need for your resume.

Hi Di!
I think volunteering is so important- regardless of whether it is for a college application or not. The websites listed above are all great resources to find opportunities for volunteering, especially for certain items that are virtual. However, depending on what exactly you want to volunteer in, the best way to get involved with your community is to simply go ask your community! Find some local organizations like the township government, animal shelters, conservation groups, schools or anything like that. Even if there are not formal posting for volunteer positions on a website, chances are if you go and talk to these groups they would appreciate the extra help.
Hope this helps!
