It's wonderful to see your enthusiasm for volunteering to better your city! Volunteering is not just a noble act, but it's also a fantastic way to hone your skills, forge valuable relationships, and contribute to matters that are close to your heart. There are numerous platforms like VolunteerMatch and Idealist that can help you connect with organizations. I would also encourage you to consider the issues you feel strongly about, and then look for local nonprofits that concentrate on those areas.

Hi Jazzy,
There are so many cool ways to support your community and drive positive change. My first recommendation would be to get super clear on the cause(s) or topics you're most interested in/passionate about. Getting clarity on your vision early on will help you focus your time and energy with deciding what you want to do.
Next recommendation would be to Google search volunteer opportunities in you area. VolunteerMatch.org is a great starting point (https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/orgs.jsp?l=Denver,+CO) too.
I also suggest you ask friends, family and people you look up to in your community for suggestions as well.
Best of luck. Your future is bright!

Love this. Volunteering can’t help build your résumé while developing skills that will benefit your career. As I coach people looking to volunteer, I encourage them to do a simple Google search with the name of their city + volunteer opportunities.
You can also do a search for nonprofits in your city and 99 times out of 100 they will happily accept volunteers looking to assist.

Volunteering is a lifelong gift to the community and to you. Always present in a community are schools and hospitals. These two places are always looking for help and skills. Also, United Ways in your community will be focused on the most pressing needs of residents. You can lend a hand with technical skills or as a voice of encouragement to people. Thirdly, youth organizations like big brothers big sisters, YWCA or YMCA, boys and girls clubs, etc. Here you would be subject to a background checks and then could be a mentor or other roles they might offer.
In all cases, thank you in advance for the gesture of kindness and support you will bring to your community as a volunteer.
Be well.

Jazzy,
There are many different things you can do as a volunteer. I have volunteered at a food bank helping them organize food donations. I volunteered at a Christian ranch helping them with buckthorn control (noxious plants). I also went to a habitat for humanity store where I helped with various different activities like bringing in donations, putting them onto the floor, and helping customers load merchandise into their vehicles. Finally, I volunteered as a math tutor at a PTECH school.
I'm guessing there are dozens of places around your area. I did a quick google search and it looks like there are volunteer match apps that will help you.
Think about what you like to do and I'm guessing you will find something to do. Take a friend with you - it can be more fun with company.
I always get energized by doing something for others. I hope you do as well.
Good luck!
