Becoming a police officer is a noble cause. My best advice to you is to study hard, keep physically fit, & stay out of major trouble. Everyone makes mistakes, & agencies know this. So if you've had a few traffic tickets, you probably don't have much to worry about.
Academics are just as important as being fit. As an officer, you have to have a thorough understanding of federal, state, & local laws. You can't enforce the law it you don't understand it.
Don't let the main stream media make you doubt your passion for law enforcement. What they put on the air is often not true or slanted to make the police look bad.
Thank you for wanting to do this job. It is very rewarding.

Thanks for your encouragement! Are there any special schools I have to go to be a police officer?

Adrian,
I agree with everything Sgt Formato said. Its important you stay focused on your goal. Keep your head on straight!
As far as special schools, the first is the police academy. This is usually only available once a police department hires you. That being said, some states do allow people to put themselves through the academy. You would have to research your own state to see if that is an option. All other schools or trainings would be arranged by your police department.
Good luck!
