Hello Zakryie,
Each person has a unique journey, and here's a glimpse into mine. I had a typical childhood and eventually found myself in college, uncertain about my future career. I dabbled in engineering, social work, but none of these paths ignited a spark within me. However, one thing was clear: I didn't want to be confined to an office, repeating the same tasks day in and day out. From a young age, I was driven by a strong desire to contribute to my community and to be part of a profession I could take pride in.
After graduating, I took a leap of faith and decided to explore the world of policing. It was a decision that I instantly connected with and cherished. The sense of camaraderie it offered was beyond compare, and the chance to serve my community daily brought immense fulfillment.
As a police officer, you're given the extraordinary opportunity to touch lives every day. You strive to make a positive difference, embodying a role model for others to emulate. Policing opens up a world of continuous adventures, learning, and growth. My journey allowed me to delve into undercover operations, vice and narcotics, property crime, violent crimes, task force work, and uniformed patrol. As I climbed the ranks, I embraced a broader spectrum of responsibilities, which, after three decades, paved the way for my transition into the security field.
Police work, as the adage goes, is more than just a job—it's a calling. If you decide to embark on this path, you'll quickly discover if it resonates with your soul.

Zakriye,
I'll start with the second part of your question first, why did I choose this career.
There were two main reasons why I wanted to become a police officer. First, I thought I would like helping people. I believed I would be able to make a difference day in and day out. Being there for someone in need sounded interesting to me.
Second, I wanted the excitement and to be in "the know". Whenever I would pass by a scene that had officers, I always wanted to know what was going on. Being able to race through town with lights and sirens, and being in the middle of what was going on sounded cool.
How I got into police work was a long process. I started taking police exams, and waited for my turn. While waiting, I joined auxiliary police departments to get to know the culture. I also attained an armed security guard license, and worked in that field. I did this to get used to carrying a firearm while potentially under stress. Lastly, I received a college degree in criminal justice as well as social services.
I believe my path properly helped me attain and transition into law enforcement. I also believe my passion at heart in becoming and being a police officer is what helped me throughout my career.
I hope my answer helps you in your journey. Best of luck!
