Congratulations on your relationship and future plans! For coding and engineering programs near Arkansas, consider University of Arkansas (Fayetteville), Arkansas State University (Jonesboro), and University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Little Rock) for in-state options. Out-of-state options include University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK), Missouri University of Science and Technology (Rolla, MO), and University of Tulsa (Tulsa, OK). When choosing, consider factors like cost, location, program accreditation (ABET), campus culture, and internship/job placement rates. Research and visit campuses to find the best fit. Utilize resources like College Navigator, Niche, and US News & World Report to inform your decision.

There are several colleges that offer strong programs for both coding and engineering, making them great options for you and your boyfriend. Consider schools like the University of California, Berkeley, which has excellent computer science and engineering programs. Another option is the University of Michigan, which also has highly regarded programs in both fields.
If you're looking for a more collaborative environment, look at Georgia Institute of Technology, known for its engineering and computer science programs. Texas A&M University is also a solid choice, offering a good blend of engineering disciplines and computer science.
When choosing a college, think about factors like campus culture, location, and available resources. It’s important to visit campuses if you can, to see which environment feels right for both of you!

Lillian,
It's good that you are planning for the future. Coding (computer science?) and engineering are extremely prevalent majors at many different colleges. I have hired people with both of these majors and the actual college makes a limited amount of difference to the hiring.
I would look for a college you can afford and if you can take classes early at a community college first and then transfer into the college of your choice, that would help alleviate costs. Look for scholarships for both of you to help as well.
Also, look for colleges that have excellent placement of their graduates into jobs - that's the ultimate measure of success. For this, it's REALLY important to have internships, so look for colleges that have resources for this. The most competitive candidates have 2-3 internships during a 4 year college stay.
There's a lot of decisions you have to make soon. I hope this helps you with your decision.
Take care and good luck!

Hey Lillian,
Awesome to hear that you all are planning for the future. As an Arkansan I can tell you that there are plenty of options within the state. As an Alum of course I'll mention Arkansas State offers programs in various engineering fields like mechanical, electrical, and civil. As well as Computer Science for your partner interested in coding. Other schools which offer similar programs are UA-Fayetteville which I'm sure you've heard of given your profile and University of Central Arkansas. There are plenty of out of state options as well which are close like University of Missouri and University of Oklahoma.
I would advise you speak to your partner and understand what you are both looking for in both a college environment as well as your program of study so you both can understand what school works best for you both.
