if I were an offshore welder how long would I be away from home on average

im not too good at math but im turning 18 and in a trade school to become a welder

Thank you comment icon Hello! Just bc you don't think you're very good at math doesn't mean you're not good at math. Things take time to learn. When I was in high school, I was terrible at math! In fact, I almost flunked out of Algebra. But.. when I stopped and actually tried = I discovered that math wasn't that hard actually. Sometimes you just have to see things differently and really apply yourself. Fast forward: I passed college algebra with an A+. You have the power to learn anything you want... but that's the hard part! Keep trying. You'll get it 🙂 Best of luck! Mason Bryant

Colliya’s Answer

If you become an offshore Welder, the time away from home can vary depending on the job and company, but it's typically around 2 to 4 weeks at a time, followed by an equal amount of time off. It may seem tough at first, but many welders find the time off is a great opportunity to recharge and enjoy hobbies or time with family. Plus, this schedule can give you the chance to see the world and gain valuable experience. Keep pushing forward-math can improve with practice, and your passion for welding will open up amazing opportunities!

Andrew’s Answer

As an offshore welder, the time you'd spend away from home depends on the specific job and employer. On average, offshore welders work in rotations, typically 2 to 6 weeks offshore, followed by an equal or shorter time off onshore. For example, you might work 4 weeks on the rig and then have 4 weeks at home.

Some contracts might require longer periods away, like 3 months offshore, but those are less common. It’s important to ask potential employers about their rotation schedules so you know what to expect.
