Joshua,
Congratulations on finding something that excites you! Getting into marine engineering or naval architecture could be exceptionally rewarding, and will offer you a set of rare skills. Before I share some advice on getting into that career, I want to encourage you to conquer that feat of the world. You're still in high school. It's okay to be a little unsure about where you fit in and what to expect of people. But now is a great time to embrace that fear and start to overcome it. See if you can find ways to get out of your normal routine and get into the world. Try volunteering for a non-profit that puts you face-to-face with people. Try going to Toastmasters meetings to practice public speaking. Try pursuing your hobbies at meetings in your hometown. Perhaps try running a small business or starting a non-profit to practice getting yourself out there. Many of these activities will also help you to get into a good college - they're distinctive actions and will make you much more than just a GPA and an SAT score.
As for becoming a marine architect, there are definitely a couple of things you need to know. I'll disclose that I'm not a marine architect. I've poked around and found some guidelines though. First off, you're definitely going to need to get a bachelor's degree (at least) in either marine engineering or naval architecture. Here's a link to some of the universities in North America with relevant programs: http://www.sname.org/SNAME/Directories/StudentSections/ This list is curated by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers which is a trade group for the industry, and isn't a comprehensive list, but it's a good place to start. Definitely keep an eye on what that group publishes. There may be other relevant trade groups like SNAME that you might want to also consider. It goes without saying that joining the Navy or Coast Guard would provide some relevant training, but need not necessarily be your only path.
I hope that's helpful. Good luck with your career and with becoming comfortable with the world!
