How do I make money while in middle school with limited resources and strict parents?

I am 13, have no debit or credit card and want to retire my parents early. I live in a senior homes place with my parents and grandparents. Does anyone have any tips on how to make a lot of money easily?

In middle school, the most affordable ways to earn money for a student is by doing an online work.
You could easily do it while you are at school. Here's how it can be done.

Some websites pays you to write articles for them. It's a part-time work, and if done with focus you could easily complete the task within 2 to 3 hours. On each article you can easily earn $50 to $100. If you write 10 articles per month, you can easily earn $1000 bucks.

If you are low on time, you can share tasks with your friends and share half of the revenue with them too. The best part about this work is that, you can do it whenever you want. You are not bound to do it. Nor the website will question you about any delays.

Here I am mentioning a few websites that pays you to write articles for them:

  • SavingSays.com

  • Penpee.com

  • TextBroker.com

You might start by letting your family, friends, and neighbors know that you are available to do a variety of tasks and that your schedule is flexible. Make up a flyer which lists some things you can do such as rake leaves, run errands, house cleaning, shopping, child care, etc. You might also think about things you can sell such as lemonade. Perhaps your parents or grandparents like to bake cookies or make a craft that you could include.

You may not make a lot of money initially but put most of what you earn in the bank and watch it grow.

    Hi Malachi,

I think it’s great that you’re already thinking ahead to you & your parents future. There are lots of ways you can earn money. If your parents are strict or if they worry about your safety while you venture out to find work, perhaps one of them or another family member can accompany you while you look for ways to earn money. Here are a few suggestions:

-See if any neighbors need yard work done such as raking leaves, mowing grass, shoveling snow or pulling weeds. They likely even have all the tools you need and will be willing to allow you to use them.
-Ask neighbors or extended family members to do odd jobs for them such as washing cars, picking up trash, walking dogs or feeding pets, house cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, etc.
-If you have hobbies or skills look for ways to use those such as making crafts or art to sell at local craft fairs or markets.
-Teach younger children or peers how to do a certain skill that you might be good at like playing an instrument.

I hope some of these ideas help! Good luck!

    Good Day, Malachi !

I am so happy to see that you have ambition and want to be active with employment ! Are you sure that you live in senior housing, because from my previous experience as a social service case manager, only people 55 or 62 and older can live in senior housing because of the state tax exemption deduction that government provides to the real estate/management company. In any case, I am glad they made an exception for you !

I know that the urgency of needing financial means may seem as though you need nothing short of a miracle, but it really doesn't happen that way. As for applying for jobs at a company, if you can wait till you turn 14, you will have reached the legal working age in your state of Arizona. In the meantime, take on some volunteer work to gain experience and meet new people. At that age, visit your school office and ask for your Work Permit. Obtain that as soon as you turn 14 because you never know when employment will happen for you, so it is great to be prepared. At 14, you can work on a farm, do housecleaning or work for a family business.

There is no easy, quick, instant or magical way to obtain money. You can set out to do things that you charge a fee for and there's another way to have some spending money, but nothing you will do will be in the large sum that you can tell your parents to retire on. Your parent's retirement is a process that they choose based on many things. It is absolutely angelic of you to want to help your parents retire. You have all good intentions.

So, for some pocket money for yourself, why not have a garage/tag/yard sale ? Ask people to donate things that they do not want anymore and sell them at a sale on weekends. Maybe it will ease your mind if you see yourself obtaining a little bit of money at first and as you gain skills and reach the employment age, you will progress with how much money you can make. It will get better.

If you tap into any of your creative talents and can make art or other creations, sewing, woodworking, etc. you can sell these crafts at your sale, too. Mesa, Arizona has some volunteer opportunities for your age group that seem fun and can fill your time while you gain experience. I have left a link to their webpage below for you to read more about these opportunities.

So my advice is that until you turn 14, give it some time to think about, have as many weekend garage/yard/tag sales as you can, do some volunteer work to gain experience and if you have other questions relating to work, definitely return here for advice ! Best wishes in all you do !
