As the other advisor has suggested that you can do it as a hobby instead of a career, with that in mind, this is a time for you to make that discovery as to if you are ready to seriously train right now to be a Musical Artist. Since we do not know you personally and you did not mention why you are worried even before you've started, I would be very happy to provide some advice to you.
If you want to be a musical artist, start now. Stop thinking about it and make it real for yourself. As you experience involvement and education for your musical skill, you will make it a reality for yourself and worrying will vanish. When you express your passion for music, express exactly what you want to do: singer, play an instrument, teach, recording in studio, etc. Your first step in realizing a career as a musical artist is to speak in specifics. Then activate your energy towards small goals that you are able to accomplish.
Whichever school you are in right now, utilize to the fullest every musical resource at your current school. Join choir, band, chorus, anything connected to music and take some classes if some are offered. Ask for guidance and advice as you go along. Replace your fears with focusing on your strengths - that is what will bring forth your talents. You have to discover yourself and others must discover you. It is never too early or late to pursue music.
I think that deep down, you know the answer to your own question. But why is it a question ? Something in your daily life has made you feel that being a musical artist is not reachable, but it is. It could be that you are never around people who are musical artists and that your town is not a music hub with a lot of productions, studios or venues for music. That doesn't matter right now because you can bring music to wherever you are.
It takes a lot more than talent to be in the Music Industry.
Do some online searches in your community to see if there are any musically related classes offered for your age group. Start honing the particular skills you need to do what you want to do as a career. I would also suggest that attending college could be a consideration and obtaining a degree in Music. At college, you will meet a lot of like minded people and possibly have opportunities to perform. It can be done, but you need to reach out and connect with experiences. See if there are any music themed Summer Camps that you can go to also. Just think of all the originality that you can bring to the music world and that will help in casting out any doubt. Enjoy the path towards your career. It certainly is an exciting field and once you enter the practice and education for it, it will seem real to you.
