Absolutely! Data science and forensics intersect in several exciting careers. Roles like forensic data analyst, cyber forensic analyst, or digital forensic investigator utilize data science techniques to analyze evidence and uncover patterns in complex datasets. Companies you might consider include law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity firms, and private investigation companies. Additionally, tech companies like IBM, Palantir, and various consulting firms also look for professionals skilled in data analytics to enhance their forensic capabilities. This blend of skills is increasingly in demand, making it a great field to enter!

At Microsoft, we do have positions that focus on online forensics, which is a crucial aspect of our operations. This is particularly relevant for our online-based products such as Bing, MSN, the Edge browser, Office, and platforms like Azure, among others. These are continuously targeted by fraudulent users and bots, making the role of online forensics crucial in identifying these threats and advising on the best defense strategies.
The nature of this work is heavily reliant on data science. It involves searching for patterns in enormous volumes of online logs, identifying correlations, and training and validating models, among other tasks. It's a thrilling and dynamic field!
If you're interested in such roles, you can look up "forensics" on the Microsoft Jobs website to see the available positions: https://careers.microsoft.com/v2/global/en/home.html. I'm sure that other companies within the same sector also have similar roles and requirements.
