Why is a dental hygiene course so short compared to other difficult careers when it is such a high demand job?

I am very interested in becoming a dental hygienist, but from what I heard it’s a high demand-competitive position. At the end is it worth all of the sleepless nights? I will still fight for my dream of becoming a dental hygienist some day.

You have a couple years of prerequisites then once you are in the program, it is intense. You work straight through, with minimal breaks. For example, my school we got some time off for Christmas and Thanksgiving. That’s about it. And there were a lot of classes during that time, so we were more than full time students in a high intensity program. If this is your dream, go for it. No pain no gain.

While it seems there should be a correlation between the length and toughness of training, the correlation isn't very strong. And the demand for dental hygienists varies over time and by market.
Yes, it is in demand now, and if that's what you truly want to do, you should go for it. And I wouldn't worry too much about "sleepless nights"--most careers can provide them and dental hygiene is no worse than most.
