There is no real license to work in a restaurant as an employee. As an owner, you need a couple of things.
To work in a bakery, restaurant, or bar, you need to have a food handlers' card or a ServSafe certificate.
A food handler's card varies from state to state and county by county. Check with your local health department for information.
ServeSafe is offered by the National Restaurant Association in Chicago. There are books and online classes, and most major cities and schools offer courses in person. ServeSafe is more expensive and a little harder to pass, but it is good in all 50 states and good for three years. You must retest every three years. The other things you need are training and education. You need to practice and be patient. It takes time to learn everything you need to know. I hope this helps and wish you good luck.

Here's a more actionable version of your text:
Food Handler's Permit: If you're a cook, chef, or server who handles food, you'll likely need this permit. The process usually involves taking a food safety course and passing a test.
Food Protection Manager Certification: If you're in charge of food service operations, like a head chef or kitchen manager, this certification is often necessary. It requires a deeper knowledge of food safety principles and management methods.
To find out the precise licensing needs for your situation, reach out to your local health department or your area's regulatory authority. They can supply you with the correct details and advice.
Don't forget, food safety is vital in the food industry. By getting the right certifications, you're helping to protect the health of your customers.

Get a food handler’s license in whatever state you are in and thorough allergy training to be Safe Serve Certified. You can find classes on line and if you get those done, it definitely increases your possibility of being hired. Your prospective employer will see that you are proactive and take food safety seriously: essential these days.

I believe it depends on the city or state you are planning to work in, as well as if you are the owner of the work place or just working in it.
Just being a chef doesn't require a lot of permits or licenses, but if you own the facility, you will need quite a bit. Since each state and city are different, you will need to look that up per location.
