I’ve always wanted to be a model even though I’m shy and anxious. How can I become a model with these traits?

I am very outgoing with my friends and family but I get scared in new environments. I’ve always had the perfect height for a model but I also hated it as I was taller than most of the people. I want to be confident and bold.

Hello, Pari !

You will have to want to become a model more than anything else. Although you've expressed the barriers, these may change in time and the best way to break the ice is to start having photo shoots and doing fashions shows in your school and your community if you want to be a model strongly enough. Start getting used to the usual modeling routines you'll need to do.

If you want help understanding and overcoming your barriers, you can talk it out with your high school social worker or seek help in your community. I advise coming to terms with anything that's holding you back because in the future, you may regret that you didn't try for this career. But it has to be something you strongly are driven towards, not just a pre-conceived thought, so start now. Overthinking it will also hold you back.

Start out slow. Let family and friends that you are comfortable with take some photos of you and start a portfolio. You can test your progress with how you feel by enrolling in Modeling School. The reason for the anxious feelings you're having is because you're just thinking about it and not doing it. You can do it. Don't let this opportunity pass you by.

See if your high school would let you and your friends do a fashion show at your school and also ask local businesses if they would let you do it, too. I think that once you start networking and see that it is possible to be a model, your anxious feelings will decrease. Modeling is all about new environments, so now is the best time to work on that.

Never post your modeling photos or identity as a model on social media because there are great risks no matter what a person's age is. There is a professional and safe way to do it and your modeling school will teach you everything.***

I have been in show business my entire life. Just retired at 70.

This may sound silly, but just be you. You can be shy. Kinda normal, actually.

Let people see who you are. Get a few gigs under your belt. Your confidence will grow.
