The first thing to do is to confirm that your are selecting a career area that is most suitable for your personality traits and use networking with that information to make meaningful contact that will lead to employment. Good sources of information include the Director of Alumni Relations and Professional Associations to which people in your career area are members.

I would join the professional organization that supports your major. This will allow for networking. Use your schools resources as many companies recruit directly from the college. Attend Job Fairs, apply directly to the employer you would like to work for, and use online job searches. I also have several friends that have been recruited from LinkedIn.
