Tesa’s Answer

It's a good experience, and most schools now are teaching in ways that are designed to give students experiences that feel a lot like what you might encounter in the business world. The nice thing about a degree in this field is that it will equip you really well to use in a number of different ways in the business world.

Tesa recommends the following next steps:

I suggest going to the website for each of the colleges you're interested in and reading about the details of their business programs. That might give you a good idea of what you could expect, and you might also see where the schools differ and which ones stand out to you as the best options for you.

Fortuna’s Answer

Hi Silvia,

Most colleges require prerequisite classes of Statistics, Accounting, Calculus, Business Law, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics with a cumulative business GPA of 2.7 and above in order to get into the business program junior year (dependent on the school program). Once you get into the business program junior year, then you take Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Management classes your first semester of your junior year. After the second semester of your junior year, then you would take your core business major classes such as Management classes which include project management, consulting, ethics, and such. It is a great experience and very versatile degree!

It is a rewarding experience, but will require you to apply yourself. I believe it would be a great degree to provide you with knowledge that you could apply across a range of industries and organizations. The course work will likely provide you the opportunity to apply learnings to real life scenarios. It would also position you well to continue with pursuing an MBA should you desire.

Chris’s Answer

Every university is different in their requirements and the type of degree plans vary. Typically, you will be required to take basic math, economics (micro and macro), statistics, accounting and other various business basics. Your last two years will be focused on your specific degree path and will include lots of projects and more hands on scenarios.
