Before my career as an analyst I was chef for 5 years. I really enjoyed it but found a greater passion for information and helping to create solutions. The advantages I enjoyed were meeting lots of people, having access to many different foods, learning different ways to prepare food, cooking the food and enjoying the outcome, learning about the food safety and nutrition. The other things I didn't enjoy was the long hours standing, starting salary was less than expected and sometimes the kitchen environment was not safe. Good luck in choosing a career!

Let me start with disadvantages so that you get a clear ending while you balance the thought with advantages :)
Disadvantages :
It’s Physically Demanding
You Will Work Long , Difficult Hours (Minimum 11 hours +)
It Can Be Unstable
While it’s possible to bring home a solid paycheck as an Executive Chef, most culinary professionals have to work their way through a variety of lower-paying jobs before they reach the top spot in a restaurant. Entry level cooks often start out making minimum wage, even at higher-end restaurants, and it can take years to make your way up through the ranks—so it’s important to be realistic about your salary early in a culinary career.
Advantages ,
You Can Work for Yourself
You Work with Talented People
Once you climb through the kitchen ranks and put in some years into the industry, it’s possible to earn a comfortable salary as a chef. That’s particularly true if you land a job at a high-end restaurant, resort, or hotel & not to forget that you will get great Salary Opportunities.

disadvantages to being a chef is the long hours. I worked at an establishment where I worked from 3pm to 3am. I lost my girlfriend at the time due to not seeing her. I missed plenty of holiday parties with friends and family.
but sometimes the advantages weigh out the disadvantages. It is up to you on how you want to handle each of them.
