Dear Alexia,

The salary of a head chef is really depending on an individual experience, achievements, and types of restaurant business. They is one of the association for chefs out there call ACF, stand for American Culinary Federation. Besides a culinary degree, there are multiple certifications that you can achieve to proof your skills. The highest certification in culinary in the CMC, Certified Master Chef. When you achieve this title, working as a head chef in private clubs/ golf clubs, you salary are range around $150,000 a year or more. Some of the Olympics medals winners can have such high salary as well.
Similar to a lot of other field of work, the remuneration comes with hard work, experience accumulations and achievements.
It is very important to choose the field of work with passion; then you have the high interest to continue to learn and improve yourself in all time. A career is more than just earning an income, it is part of your living.

Good luck Alexia!

The salary of a head chef or an Executive chef will vary depending on what type of property you are at, ie. country club, hotel, free standing restaurant, resort, on board a ship etc. The average Executive Chef salary in the United States is $69,625 as of March 26, 2020, but the range typically falls between $59,330 and $84,193. As an Executive chef you may also receive bonuses based on your food cost and labor cost, which is not included in the base salary. Hope this helps! Good Luck with your career!

Hi Alexia - great question. Good luck with your vocation choice. We need some good head chefs out there..  looks like the average head chef around the world makes about 46K, but they can make as much as 65K to start, according to some of the information I researched, you may make more money as an executive chef - check out this website https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Head_Chef/Salary, you may want to google your city and state and perhaps see if you can work with a head chef in your area to learn from them, experience can get you better connections.  good luck!!!
