Hello Sehar,

one great source is Youtube, typing up things like, "the basics of making pottery," and" how to make pottery," these should give you a good start. Looking into local schools that have an art department and asking if they have courses that are focused on pottery, if they don't, then asking them if they know any local place that teaches pottery making. Looking into books, they are a good source to give you basics on how to make pottery. Also online, searching online is also great, and another great place to look into is your school. Asking if they know local workshops in your area, or if they offer any pottery making classes at your school.

I hope I have given you great guidance, and the best of luck in your search.

Pottery is a craft that can be art. You likely won't find pottery offered in a fine arts class. I would look around for a local potter and inquire about classes. What is great about pottery is every culture has a history imbedded in pottery from simple utilitarian pieces to fine art ones. Classes in sculpture and painting could be a tremendous help as well.

Madeline’s Answer

I've recently embarked on an exciting journey by joining a novice pottery class, hosted by a local studio. This has allowed me to connect with a vibrant community of fellow pottery lovers, each with their unique stories to share. Some have honed their craft through classes at community colleges, park districts, or even online courses. Others have taken the self-taught route, using online videos to master the art of pottery.

The pottery community, though small, is incredibly welcoming. There are numerous group chats and forums that cater to different interests, making it easy to find your niche. As you venture into this creative world, consider the type of pottery that fascicles you - be it wheel throwing or hand building. Then, explore the classes available in your local area. This could be the start of an exciting, fulfilling journey in pottery!
