Gloria’s Answer

Hi Voc,

I am unsure of your question but I am guessing that you are wondering - how does a cook or chef choose the type of food that they want to make? I actually think that is a great question. I believe that the answer to this question is complex and begins with you. I would say that if you are considering being a chef, why? What do you like about being a chef? I assume that you cook or want to. If you are cooking, what are you cooking? What is your best dish? To me the difference between cook and chef is the level of experimentation in food. I am a cook. I can make recipes given to me. To me, a chef is someone who might start with a basic recipe, however, they usually change something to make the recipe their own. Do you want to recreate or create? You may want to consider taking classes to learn about cooking different types of food as well. I think about entrees versus desserts. I know a few people who bake cakes and make them for events. Test the boundaries of your cooking skills to determine where you might want to go.

Christopher’s Answer

In my opinion you have to figure out your "why". Your why needs to be bigger than you! Once you have your "why" then you'll be laser focus on accomplishing your career goal

Christopher recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of you would like to do and how this industry will benefit that why
