To get a job takes various steps. I would have a resume ready, which templates for can be found online to help you start. Using job search sites is very helpful such as Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor etc. If you find a job you are interested in, research the company so you know more about it. Write down questions about the job and company to ask when you get an interview. Be prepared to answer questions about yourself and why you want the job, why you would be a good fit for the job, your skills, your assets, etc. Have an idea of when you can start. Dress professionally for your interview whether it is online or in person.
Thank you, Laura for the advice.

I followed few basic principles, that has helped me maintain "Zero Days" without a job for 40 years! I looked for a job only twice, once right after college and once during 2000 dot-com bubble. I had more than 7 jobs and I was asked to come and work than me looking to change the change and search for one, by following these principles.
1. Knowledge in your field: Study hard, learn the concepts, and be informed. Knowledge is power and gives you the leg up. Keep learning.
2. Have a good resume - lot of web sites, including Microsoft Office tools provide great templates, books from library etc.
3. Have good connections - start with your teachers and have them recommend you. Once you start working, have more connections through LinkedIn, within the company, conferences etc.

Resume, Network, and interview skills! I work on putting together a resume that sells who you are. Make sure to include specific stats and numbers that show what you know. Network with people in the company! Introduce yourself and share your goals and mission. Who knows, you may gain a great mentor along the way. Lastly practice interviewing!! You have to know how to sell yourself in an interview.

It's not clear where you are in your journey to get a position in IT. Depending on what kind of job you are looking for, you will need education/experience. Taking classes, writing code, creating a portfolio of work you have done are all possible steps. Then you need to find open positions. Laura gave you good advice on that . You generally apply to many positions, and hope to get an interview. There may be a technical interview, where they ask you to demonstrate your knowledge. There may be a second (or third) round of interviews.
Then you may get an offer. You look at it, all the benefits, working conditions, expectations, etc. You look at the salary, the corporate culture, the people you'll be working with and for...and you decide if you want to accept it, reject it, or try and negotiate a different package.
