What would a typical day look like as a baker's assistant?
I am 20 years old and want to make a career in Baking or Pastry Arts. I enjoy baking for my friends and family and seeing the enjoyment when everyone tries my desserts. I'll like to start as a baker's assistant or something similar to that, so I'm able to get more experience before I branch off and start my own business.

Hi Saul'Dia,
To answer your question,
What would a typical day look like as a baker's assistant?
Normally baker and baking assistants' day would start at about 4 am. You would do some prepping and make bread and cakes under the watchful eye of the baker. Your day would end somewhere around 4 or 5 pm. The baking assistant would also do the washing of the utensils and learn step by step how to create whatever the product for the day is. You could learn how to create spun sugar, make a Pate a Choux, or other things of that nature.

The main thing you probably will be doing is a lot of prepping and doing basic needs for the day. For example, when you are making cakes and small pies or such, you will be the one mixing ingredients and washing dishes and making small pastries. etc.. if you want to be in that field do the research. There's nothing more important than doing your research for anything you are interested in.
Best of luck!

Hello there! I pursued my education at The Culinary Industry of America, specializing in Baking and Pastry. Upon graduation, my work routine started when most people were still tucked away in their beds. My workday typically began between 2-6 am, wrapping up by early afternoon. My responsibilities included preparing and baking the day's goodies. Once the baking was done, I'd open the shop and start prepping for the following day. On weekends, we'd set up a stall at the local farmers market to sell our delicious creations. Now, if you're keen on diving deeper into the baking and culinary world, be prepared to work during evenings and weekends. But remember, every effort is a step closer to your dream. Best of luck!
