Hay Braylon!
Learn from those who know or reliable resources and master whatever you do. Avoid mediocrity or partial knowledge of your discipline.
Enroll in technical or apprenticeship education, experience the right environment in the industry, get tested and certified, package your self well as a professional in your field should be. Get mentorship as may be required.

Braylon,
I would look for a local community college and take a welding class if you have the means to do this. I would also recommend finding local welders and asking to job shadow or sit down with them to ask your questions. Physically going to a welding shop and seeing the process firsthand is going to give you the best answers.
Reaching out to strangers can be nerve-racking, but the results are worth it!
