check out a Google class:
https://grow.google/certificates/ux-design/#?modal_active=none
it does not require any experience in computers. I have heard it is a good class that will allow you to get started with UX.
Best of luck!

Consider looking into a community college with a UX or Human Computer Interaction program. These types of institutions usually offer introductory courses in computer proficiency that will prepare you for moving forward with your area of study.

Hi Leanne,
there are other important things besides "computer skills" in UX like psychology and empathising with the users, gathering requirements and understanding the business needs. Any skills can be acquired if you are persistent enough. Start with some online resources dedicated to UX like
- https://start.uxdesign.cc/
- https://www.interaction-design.org/
For learning the tools (Figma, XD etc.) you can go to Youtube where there are plenty of free videos, Skillshare, Udemy.
Start following tech related news on the likes of TechCrunch, Engadget, youtube channels like Tech Altar.
Join a local UX community or a discord group where you can ask questions or read through different topics.
Create a project with one of the tools - working is the best way to learn.
Certification can be helpful but is not obligatory - try the Google UX course as it is quite affordable.
Follow professionals on LinkedIn and other platforms.
Don't give up :)
Best,
Kristina

Hi Leanne! UX design certainly has aspects where you require computer skills for actual execution. However, a core element of being a greater UX designer is also doing great research so that your solution actually meets your target audience's needs or solves their problems (which are sometimes not technology related!). I'd look into best practices for conducting research or a type of research called ethnography, which can be practiced in a low-tech as you improve your technology skills. Good luck!
