Andrew’s Answer
First start by looking at yourself and thinking through questions like what are you good at? What are you passionate about? What are your values?
Getting clear on these answers first will point you in the right direction. I have found that happiness in your adult life is quite dependent on finding a career path that you enjoy. Once I switched from a job that I dreaded waking up for every morning to a job that I enjoy it was a total game changer. Usually, when you enjoy your job it is because it is something you are good at and fits into something you are interested in. So start there.
Once you have that figured out, list out the professions that would fit that description of you. Academic advisors at schools will help you build the appropriate major and class structure to prepare for that profession you choose. Also, you don't put too much pressure on yourself. You can certainly pivot along the way if you find that your classes aren't what you thought they would be.
Good luck!

Hello corey,
The first place is yourself, know what interests you.. I would advice you to take career aptitude test so that you can know what is within you and then ask about the type of career you have got from the test. To know if a career works for you try volunteering and see whether its makes you happy at working it mas well.. Good Luck!

Hi Corey,
You might want to consider a career assessment test to help you identify potential careers that align with your interests.
In California, there is the California Career Zone website that provides this service for free- https://www.cacareerzone.org/
I also recommend the assessments at O*NET, which is a fantastic comprehensive resource for career exploration and to plan career options. - https://www.onetcenter.org/tools.html
Here are some additional free resources for assessments:
-https://www.humanmetrics.com/ (click on the career development profile)
If you have access to a high school counselor, they may have additional resources for you. Career Services departments and counselors at your local community college also specialize in helping students explore career options and make decisions for their future in the workforce.
Best of luck to you!

Hi Andrew
It is never to late to look into professions.Better late than never.
I am in my fifties and I am on my 3rd career field.
A good place to look for professions is in the Occupational outlook hand book. It has all career from A to Z. It will give you the job growth for the future, education requirements, job description and locations where the job is performed.
Also your local Colleges and Community College can give you great information for local companies that may need skilled workers for certain jobs and have contracted with these local schools to offer courses to help fill the positions.
Many blessings on your new career that awaits you.
