What kind of classes do I need to take to be an architect?

I plan on going to Kansas State University

EMAW!

You'll take a lot of general education of course, but you'll spend your longest hours in the drafting lab using their laser cutters. It's a degree that is long-hours but with a very rewarding career. Totally worth it.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm not 100% sure what the best specific courses would be for an architecure major, but having a strong background in math, especially mathematics like algebra, trigonometry, and calculus, is largely beneficial. Taking courses in design, physics, and drafting can also be very helpful. If you can, try to take relevant classes like those I suggested while you're still in high school.


Since you said you want to go to Kansas State, here is a helpful KSU pamphlet for architectural engineering majors along with a list of suggested undergraduate classes at the end. Hopefully this will be of help to you.
