How impacted is majoring in mechanical engineering and what are some tips for this major?
I am an incoming freshman attending East Bay University, where I want to prepare myself for the future. I would like to understand what difficulties and challenges I will be facing and what tips I should consider when entering a new environment.

Hey Vincent!
I grew up near CSU East Bay, and I hope you're enjoying the area as much as I did! Although I'm not an engineer, I found some info that might be helpful.
It looks like the only impacted major at East Bay is nursing (https://www.calstate.edu/attend/degrees-certificates-credentials/Pages/impacted-degrees.aspx)
Tips for this major? I found two threads from other students who are interested in mechanical engineering. One of them is about the essential skills needed for this field (https://www.careervillage.org/questions/237794/what-are-essential-skills-for-a-mechanical-engineer), and the other is about some difficulties you might run across (https://www.careervillage.org/questions/659560/what-would-be-the-hardest-thing-to-learn-in-mechanical-engineering).
Please let me know if this doesn't answer your question and I can try to find other resources :)

Mechanical Engineering is a very challenging field. One thing that I found that helps is to take Business courses or even consider getting a business minor. Most students don't make the connection of Engineering to business but it is very helpful to have some business background to know how the products you design impact a company and their business model. I got a Business minor and it helped quite a bit once I got out of college and started working as a Mechanical Engineer.
