Jyoti’s Answer

You need at least four years of college at an accredited university, graduating with degree in engineering. That will provide you the foundation to apply at firms for mechanical engineering. It would be good to try to get an internship at NASA while you are studying in order to open that pathway for eventual employment.

Sundar’s Answer

Yes need a 4 year engineering degree. You would need to get the degree from a top 10 university in Mech Engineering. You need to develop outstanding knowledge in a small specialization be it Structures, Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Physics or which ever small field of expertise you choose inside mechanical engineering and need to be the end all know all in that small specialization. You need to be overtly dedicated and study on a lot of research topics and conduct practical research on that small specialization to get into NASA.

Edward’s Answer

A four year degree in engineering should be enough to be considered for employment at NASA. Pursuing a graduate degree might make you a more competitive applicant for certain roles requiring specialization or management skills. Note that NASA and similar public and private companies likely have minimum GPA requirements, so years of school is not the only metric to consider.
