Mistie’s Answer

Hi Jackson,
My career began as a Crime Scene Specialist where I documented and processed crime scenes among other duties. I decided to leave that job and teach as an adjunct instructor in criminal justice. I loved working as a CSS, but the schedule is 24/7 and made it a challenge to be with friends and family, so I made the tough decision to leave, but still was able to work in CJ and forensics as a teacher. My education includes a bachelor in Biology which gave me the opportunity to work in the field or lab, a Masters in Forensic Science which has allowed me to teach, and I am currently in my last few months of my Doctorate. A bachelor is likely the minimum degree you will need, but it completely depends on what job you are pursuing.

While going to school, I worked general jobs but volunteered at the crime lab which helped me to get the CSS job. I volunteered in the lab and in the field.

Please let me know if you want more details on my CSS job or my teaching job.

Good luck,
Mistie
