What is the best company to work as an underwater welder?

What city would be the best high-pay rate for an underwater welder and what do I need to know about safety? What classes do I need to become underwater water welder?

Thank you comment icon I’m not a welder but I noticed no one answered this question, Isaiah. Just wanted to encourage you to continue to build up your network in the field and see if someone would be willing to have a Q&A with you. Like a day in the life. Good luck! Shane Hammons

I was an underwater welder for a few years. I went to The Ocean Corporation located in Houston, TX. It is a 7-month course if I remember correctly. They certify you in various areas such as master scuba, commercial diving, non destructive testing. It's a very informative course but there is not a lot of focus on the welding portion of it. I have heard that Oceaneering is a good company to work for as a welder. I personally worked for Cal Dive out of Louisiana but found myself doing more underwater construction and not so much welding.

Hi, Not sure where you are located but here is a great school for underwater welding; Divers Institute of Technology in Seattle WA. They have a website but I'd recommend calling them an reaching out in person first. I knew a few individuals who graduated from this school and they loved it. The Divers Institute of Technology has been a Veteran Owned and Veteran Operated School and I believe if you are sincere when you call they might be helpful...

Good luck. John
