I don’t think you need to start off at a bad job, but being willing and able to work your way up can go a long way. I think the answer to your question depends on what type of work you are looking to do.
I will say that connections are very important. Know the right people can open doors. Join groups, connect with others and build great relationships; that can help you get ahead for sure.

Choice the way to go and that the path to your dream job may not be linear, and it's okay to take steps along the way to reach your ultimate goal. Stay focused, adaptable, and open to opportunities that align with your overall career journey.

Experience and trials will make you find your way and what you do/don’t like.
I’ve worked in some great places, some not so great.
A job is not permanent, you can always change and find something else.

I think in today's world it can certainly be difficult to get into a good job or your dream career. Within the field you are trying to get into, there might be hundreds of people that might try to get into the same job title or company that will have much more experience than you starting out. When you are first starting out in the job market, the most important thing, is that everybody starts somewhere. Almost nobody starts out on the very top of the good job and dream career ladder without having to work hard in order to show others that they deserve that position. If somebody does end up at the top almost immediately, they either did a lot of work behind the scenes that you may not know about or they got extremely lucky and had good connections to help push them to the top.
For some jobs, in order to show them that you are worth their time, you have to show them some kind of work and experience. This will typically be work that you will do outside your intended degree depending on what type education and job you are talking about. This can be in the form of working in an internship, and actual job within some part of your field. For some people, ,they will go get certifications to show their knowledge, understanding, and passion towards working in that industry which can possibly lead to a pay boost.
Everyone has a different path, it will just depend on how you choose to proceed down it.

I actually started in a job that paid a little over $17,000 dollars per year. And I had a masters degree at the time.
I discovered, over time, that my employer was not willing to invest in the time, or money, to train and assist me in achieving my aspirations or goals. They were more interested in what I could only do for them in the present.
So, I had to take it upon myself to invest in my future and obtain the certifications and education necessary so that I could reach my goals. I also got internships and volunteer opportunities, which helped me to gain additional experience, so that I could transition into another career.
Over time I invested in my own education, and got the credentials and volunteer experience needed to move up. The amount of pay increased as well. This was how I managed my career and occupational path, which led to my dream job.

Unfortunately you cannot just start off in a good job. You will have to work your way up. You have to learn the business and system while doing this too. I had a friend who was wondering how to get into a mansion, and kept leaving every job he had searching for higher pay. That is not how this works. You will benefit from getting promoted from within, and never just start out making hundreds of thousands of dollars. Believe that you can sustain a position, and know that it is inevitable with a degree you will be promoted- not for effort, but results and productivity. Don't be shy in asking for a promotion either after two years. If more work is needed for proof that's fine, but also don't sit in a dead-end job for too long.

Securing a good job or your dream job doesn't always require a college degree. I didn't attend college, but I found my way to a supervisory role in a facility maintenance company owned by my wife. Starting out, you might not land your dream job right away. It's okay to begin with something less glamorous; that's how I began my journey. Focus on gaining experience, learning as much as you can, and building a strong work ethic. As you prove yourself, opportunities to move towards your dream job can open up – just like they did for me. Hard work, determination, and a positive attitude can take you far.
