Livy, it's fantastic that you're starting to consider potential jobs. This exploration will guide you in determining your future career if you haven't already. However, remember not to let it consume all your leisure time. It's essential to enjoy moments with friends and family too. I embarked on my work journey at 16, during the summer breaks. This ensured it didn't clash with my school schedule or quality time with loved ones. It also gave me valuable insights into what I desired and didn't desire in a career. Wishing you the best of luck on your exciting journey!

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar question. In fact, there is no fix time for you to start thinking about your career. But, it is better to decide on the last year of high school before submitting application to the college. Having said that, you can start thinking about it now.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, e.g. your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc. and identify the related subjects
E.g. If you like maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
If you have interest in music, would you like to be a singer, musical actor, musician, music producer, music composer, etc.
2. Explore more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue as your major & minor in the college
5. Explore the college review on these subjects and find the entry criteria
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I personally don’t think so! I think jobs in your teens are a good opportunity to learn how to be a good employee, how to communicate professionally and what you do/don’t like in a workplace/field/management.
My only cautionary advice would be to not let it take up all your free time. You’re in a cool phase in your life where you aren’t responsible for a bunch of life’s annoying adulting. However, I think you can balance both fun and professional development.

I think everything has its right time in life. In your age, it would be better to focus on your studies and in particular, on your college education starting in a few years. You can also take part in some internships or virtual work experience programs, but it's not to be out of proportion.
All the best.

Hi Amalya, I wanted to point out that this student might not want to go to college or that it may not be a possibility for them. Does that change the way you would answer this question?

Hi Gurpreet,
Thank you for your consideration.
When I answered the question, it all was clear to me. I just wanted to encourage the student to think about not only of job, but also college education which is quite necessary in that age.
