What is the best way to find merit-based scholarships?
I am thinking of going out of state for college because I like the architecture program set up at Virginia Tech, compared to in-state schools. I fall outside of the financial aid category for college but out-of-state tuition is still costly and I would like to know where to find more merit-based scholarships to help offset the cost of out-of-state tuition.

Many out-of-state schools, like Virgina Tech, offer merit-based scholarships. Check online for department or university-wide merit-based scholarships.
Another resource is: https://www.scholarships.com/financial-aid/college-scholarships/scholarships-by-state/south-carolina-scholarships/
Scholarships.com compiled a list of scholarships based on student residence (by state).
Hope this helps!

Best of luck, Rose, as you embark on your university journey at Virginia Tech. This prestigious institution is well worth every ounce of effort you can muster to secure your place there.
Erin's suggestion to reach out to the college is a valuable one. However, don't forget to utilize the resources at your disposal in your high school as well. Your high school counselor can be a great source of assistance. They typically have access to both school-specific and general merit scholarships that you could potentially apply for.
Additionally, consider connecting with Virginia Tech alumni who reside in Rock Hill. Platforms like LinkedIn can be a useful tool for this. If your high school accomplishments are impressive, you might catch the eye of a graduate who could be interested in endorsing your application to Virginia Tech.
