Hey there, Adrianna!
Curious About Animation at SVA?
The School of Visual Arts, or SVA, is widely recognized for its robust animation program. The study plan at SVA is tailored to offer students a well-rounded education in 2D animation, encompassing both the age-old art of hand-drawn animation and the modern realm of digital animation. The teaching staff at SVA are seasoned professionals who bring their industry knowledge to the classroom, offering students invaluable advice and insights.
The animation curriculum at SVA includes subjects that delve into the basics of animation, character creation, storyboarding, and advanced animation methods. Students can make use of top-notch facilities and resources to sharpen their skills and bring their artistic ideas to reality. Moreover, SVA frequently brings in industry pros as guest lecturers or teachers, giving students the chance to learn straight from the best in the business.
Supporting Students with Special Needs
SVA is dedicated to supporting students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum. The school provides resources like counseling services, academic adjustments, and accessibility support to ensure every student has the chance to thrive in their chosen study area. SVA’s Office of Disability Services works hand-in-hand with students to develop individualized plans that cater to their unique needs and promote their academic and personal development.
Is SVA a Good Investment?
The worth of attending SVA for animation or any other program hinges on various factors, like individual career aspirations, financial considerations, and personal tastes. SVA enjoys a solid reputation in the arts and design world, and its graduates have found success in diverse creative fields. The networking opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to industry trends can be invaluable for students eyeing careers in animation.
However, it's crucial for potential students to think carefully about the cost of tuition and balance it against possible career trajectories. While SVA offers a rich educational experience, there might be other schools that offer similar quality education at a different cost. It's wise for individuals to explore and compare different schools based on their specific needs and goals.
Wrapping Up
SVA indeed offers 2D animation as part of its curriculum, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to venture into the field. The school also provides support for students with special needs, including autism. Whether SVA is a worthwhile investment depends on individual situations and preferences, so potential students should do their homework before making a decision.

Hello Adrianna!
I'm a proud graduate of Ringling College, where I honed my skills in animation just last year. In addition, I'm fortunate to have friends studying computer animation at SVA.
I'm confident that you'll be introduced to the fundamental principles of animation, particularly the traditional 2D methods. However, to truly master the art of animation, you may find it beneficial to invest some personal time in studying and practicing.
I wholeheartedly suggest considering a pre-college program if it's within your reach. It's a great way to explore different schools, understand their offerings, and identify the ones that resonate with you. Remember, I'm always here to lend a hand or answer any queries you may have.
Wishing you all the best on your exciting journey!
